Family Weekend

Last weekend my family came up to see Nathan and I in Laramie. We did a lot of fun stuff while they were here. We went "cliff" jumping/swimming with Cassidee and her friend, we went bowling (shockingly I was the winner!), and we had dinner and a game night at the Shumway's house. Also, I got to see my brother Kevin who is just off his mission.

I'm so grateful for the Shumway's! Without them it would have been much harder/impossible to have my family here for the weekend. Not only did they feed and play games with my family, they let half of them sleep at their house!

I'm also grateful that Nathan comes from a large family... anyone else might have been a little overwhelmed hanging out with ten people in a tiny apartment.

And I'm grateful for my family and how wonderful they are, it was fun having them and we miss them!

Dilemma

Last night Nathan dropped his toothbrush in the toilet. He forgot about it until tonight when it was time to get ready for bed. He had several options:

• Don't brush
• Run his toilet-toothbrush under hot water for awhile and hope the toilet/24 hours of garbage germs would go away
• Share my toothbrush

He thought long and hard but decided that the least gross option would be to use my toothbrush, I even let him use it first :)

Being married is fun!

Jubilee Days

We had a fun Jubilee Days weekend. Friday night we went out to eat and then took a walk downtown through the street dance and carnival (aka trashy town). It was fun and seeing all the people there helped me realize how great my life is haha. Saturday morning we went to the parade with Joe and Susan, it was really fun! We got to see Cody walking with her cheerleading team and PJ riding with his class for their 10 year reunion.

Fourth of July Weekend

Nathan and I went to Evanston for the Fourth of July this year. We had a lot of fun with my family (immediate and extended) and friends. Evanston is definitely the place to be on the fourth, everyone goes all out. For two nights straight, from dusk until midnight, you can hear fireworks constantly exploding no matter where you are in town. We bought quite a lot of fireworks and the boys all spent a few hours on Saturday and Sunday lighting them off. One of the more impressive "fireworks" was one my brother made. It is what he calls a "sparkler bomb" made with only a box of sparklers and some electric tape. The word bomb is a much better descriptor of what he made than a firework, dangerous but pretty cool. The city of Evanston also did a show and it was probably the best one I have ever seen! I was really glad Nathan got to visit Evanston on the 4th of July, it is definitely an experience.

Nathan was also pretty excited for the 4th because he got to shave off his beautifully grown mustache. He was not sad to part with his facial hair and I must say, I wasn't too sad to see it go either.

On the days leading up to the 4th my Dad took us to a couple movies. Friday the whole family went to see, "Avatar: The Last Airbender". The movie started at 9:45 and I called ahead to make sure they weren't sold out yet. I rushed the family to get there by 9:30, convinced we wouldn't get seats together since it was opening night. Well we got there at 9:30 and we were the only ones in the theater. I was pretty surprised until about five minutes into the movie when I understood all too clearly why nobody else was there. It is literally the worst movie I have ever seen. It wasn't a total waste of time and money however, we all got a really good laugh at ourselves and had fun bashing the movie afterward.

On Saturday a few of us went down to Ogden, UT to get Nathan a pair of insoles to help his feet. While there we all went and saw, "Eclipse", the latest Twilight movie. I thought it was pretty good, a lot of sickeningly sweet dialogue and unnecessary shirtless guys, but still fun to watch. My favorite part was that our group included Nathan, my Dad, my brothers Scott and Nathan, me, my sister Kendra, and our friend Polly; my Dad pointed out that we seemed to be the only group that consisted of more men than women. They were definitely good sports for seeing it with me even if they didn't want to. It was also really cute that every time there was kissing in the movie Kendra covered her eyes, she's such a sweetheart. I asked the boys what they thought of the movie and they all agreed that it wasn't too bad, but that after watching The Last Airbender, any movie looks like it deserves an oscar.

Fun Summer

It has been awhile since I have posted anything. We have done a few fun things in the last little while...

A few weeks ago we went to Waterworld in Denver with Sam's family and his young men's group. It was a blast!! Waterworld is one of my absolute favorite things about summer! Nathan was only able to go on a few rides due to his hurt foot, but he fit in all of his favorite ones. Sam was able to get Sammy on a couple of the adult rides, even though he wasn't quite tall enough. I think my favorite part of the Waterworld trip was seeing Sammy's face on the adult rides...it was priceless.

We went and saw "How to Train Your Dragon" in the cheap theater and "Toy Story 3" in 3D. They were both great (and hilarious) movies! We're planning on seeing the new Twilight movie this week, even though I may have to drag Nathan.

We finally got our new table!!! I'm really happy with it; it looks even better than it looked in the store, maybe even too nice for our apartment haha.

Other than that we have just been having a pretty relaxing summer. We go layout at the pool almost every day, we've been doing the "Insanity" workout video (which is NOT fun) every morning, we've both been working, and the last couple weeks Nathan has been able to play softball.

New Couch!

Last week Nathan and I bought a new couch and it was delivered today! We had some difficulty moving the old couch out and I ended up pulling my lower back pretty bad, but at least I was able to rest it while laying on our new couch all day. Nathan is pretty excited that the couch is big enough for him to lay all the way down on. It is a really pretty couch and it makes the apartment look so nice! We also bought a new table which we pick up in about a month. I think I'm more excited about the new table than the couch. Mainly because I'll be very excited to have a table that is actually made of wood, it will be nice that we won't have to worry about melting the top of the table. The only thing I will miss about the card table we have now is that I won't be able to fold it up and take it in the other room when I mop the floor.
